Meet our guests - Mia and Eamon from Australia

by Los Clavos 26 août 2017

Nicaragua is quite a long way from Australia but many Aussies can be seen on the road and on the line-up.

Los Clavos Surf Camp was lucky to host Mia and Eamon, a lovely couple from Gold Coast Australia, travelling all the way up from San Juan del Sur to the North.. They kindly accepted to answer a few of our questions.

Hello Mia and Eamon, before landing at Los Clavos Surf Camp, you spent 2 weeks visting Nicaragua, what are your first impressions of the country ?
Truly stunning! Eamon and I have been fortunate to have travelled extensively in our lives and Nicaragua has definitely been a highlight. The landscapes of this country is so diverse. Ranging from the many volcanoes looming over the towns below to the beautiful white sanded beaches in the south to the largest freshwater island in the world, Nicaragua has something for everyone. Visiting the colonial towns of Leon and Granada with the colourful architecture was also a highlight. The friendliness of the Nicaraguan people is what has made this trip one to remember!

Mia, what is your best memory of Nicaragua so far ?
Definitely hiking Volcano Maderas on Ometepe. It was a 7 hour hike and there were many moments when I thought I wouldn't make it. It was definitely one of the hardest physical challenges of my life and was an achievement to make it to the top. Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best so we didn't get much of a view.

Eamon, you are a solid surfer; how would you describe surf in Nicaragua ?
Really fun! Close access to a variety of different breaks depending on your experience level. I got to experience quality waves in the South and North of the country. I would highly recommend a surf trip to Nicaragua for those seeking fun, clean waves and a cultural experience.

What is the atmosphere like at Los Clavos Surf Camp ?
Chilled! I haven't felt this relaxed in years! Yoga, surf and beers...what more could you want?!!

Thanks a lot and hope to see you soon in Nicaragua
